Kinky Facts: Unearthing Britain’s Sexual Psyche

It would seem we’re not satisfied but we’re not speaking up either…

Earlier this year, Ododi.com conducted a survey of British men and women in which almost half of the respondents (43 per cent) admitted they are not completely honest about their sexual desires. To make matters worse, a whopping 78 per cent said that having their desires met more fully by their partner would improve their relationship.

We decided to dig a little deeper to find out exactly what people want. We came across the 2019 British Sex Survey , which is a unique snapshot of Britain’s sexual psyche, and from this we have been able to compile our list of the best things you can do to improve your sex life. If you’re finding it hard to express yourself, let these stats do the talking.

Talk dirty: 65%

Time Out say 65 per cent of people like a bit of dirty talk; it can make a massive difference in the bedroom. Ask your lover to tell you a story or give you a role to play. And above all, tell them (in a very sexy voice) what you like and don’t like. That kind of communication is the key to satisfaction.

No pain, no gain: 58%

If you’ve ever woken up with bruises and scratches after a night of passion you will be able to empathise with the 58 per cent of people who enjoy a little bit of pain in the bedroom. As long as you and your lover are consenting we say whoop dat ass!

Go solo: 73%

If you’ve got any guilt in you about masturbation let it go and let it go now. Forever. You are probably among the 73 per cent of people who masturbated in the week the national survey was produced. We don’t know who the other 27 per cent are but we suspect they are made up of 1) people with small children and 2) fibbers

Be curious: 60%

It seems that women are swinging like a giant pendulum these days, with 60 per cent admitting to having had, or thought about having, a same-sex experience. This could be a reflection on the progress of social inclusion or it could just be because girls are sexy. Either way, curiosity never killed no cats as far as we’re concerned.

Butt finally: 8%

What’s going on here? Only 8 per cent of respondents of the survey have tried a butt plug and yet this is truly one of the most pleasurable sex toys for men, and a popular one with the ladies too. Don’t be afraid of anal play fellas; this is where your G-spot lives and there is plenty of research to suggest that prostate massage is very good for you.
