Pjur Man Basic Waterglide Review

Here we take a look at a basic water based lube from Pjur. It is suitable for both penetrative sex and masturbators, with some exceptions.

Pjur is a well-known brand for personal lubricants. They provide lubricants for everyone and everything. I have used Pjur Man Basic Water Glide for a while as my basic lube and for that it works pretty well.

It comes in different sizes 30ml, 100ml (the one I have) and 250ml bottles. The bottle is pretty sleek but by no means discreet. All sizes comes with a screw cap, which I think is both fiddly and annoying. Try to screw that thing on when you’re all lubed up. Or open it again when you need to reapply. I managed to get through the bottle regardless.

The lubricant itself is free of perfume, oil and fats and is gentle on the skin. It absorbed easily when not being subject to friction. It does not get sticky once dry – which is sweet. But it does leave a film on the skin, comparable to that of an Aloe Vera gel might leave. It is to my knowledge paraben free, but it does contain glycerin and by the looks of it, quite a lot.

It is also safe to use with condoms and all sex toys seeing as it is water based, but it will not work in the shower, as it is simply washed away in an instant. It does not smell much, just a faint cosmetic smell. It also does not taste much, only slightly bitter.

This lubricant is a slick runny almost watery lubricant. Because of this it works especially well with penetrative sex with a partner or alone with a masturbator. It provides an almost naked feeling, and it enhances the skins natural texture. This means you will feel some drag, although it gets super slippery.

As it is very runny, it does not work well with silicone toys. It is simply repelled like water droplets. This makes insertion anally less smooth. Most silicone sex toys do have a lot of drag to them, and this makes it almost impossible to use them anally without i being covered in lube. When that isn’t the case, insertion is painful and not continuous and smooth. Don’t get me wrong, you can get it to work, but it is not worth it. Using toys should be fun and effortless while being pleasurable. This just don’t cut it. I would suggest using thicker, or a creamy lubricant with your silicone toys.

I like to use it with a partner, it feels good for both. It lasts through a normal sex act without the need to reapply unless you use it sparingly. This is true for anal sex which is awesome. Still, it is not my go to lubricant. It is just too simple, basic… And seeing as I won’t use it with toys other than masturbators, it’s not a good fit for me. It would do in a pinch, but there are so many lubricants that give you the best of both worlds. And when thinking sex, alone or with a partner – I would like to think I deserve the best for myself.
